Props and Costumes - Preliminary Task 1

 Props and Costumes:

For props we are going to have a computer in boys " teenage room " environment, which is key at the end of the film. A grand reveal of what is on the screen will be revealed, which displays the bullied teenage boy searching for guns online to kill his tormentors. Despite the shot being filmed on site, our team will do our best to create a room/ homely feel.

Blood will be used in partnership with bruises to portray the level of extent that the victim gets beat up by. Blood will only been shown will the Vitim is walking home. He will have blood dripping down his face and bruises along his arms and also parts of the face.

Ingredients for blood:

  • teaspoon of flour
  • half a teaspoon of red food colouring
  • tablespoon of corn syrup
  • one drop of blue food colouring

For the bruises we will be using:

  • whiteboard marker dust
  • Make-up pallet and beauty sponge

The two bullies will be wearing a similar outfit to that of a typical "roadman" which in this case, consists of mainly black attire. With including extreme neutral colours like dark grey, navy and black, it helps not to draw too much attention onto the offenders but rather on the victim. They look almost 'plain' giving them no memorable personality as they almost blend in with the darkness of the background. It also helps the audience easily identify and recognise the bullies as they have a sketchy look to them.

The victim will be wearing white and blue/black, again very neutral. This is to help establish that the victim is just a usual ordinary person trying to go about his night. This creates a good guy bad guy narrative making the audience feel sorry for him and sympathies with him. Wearing this casual outfit with the colours white especially will help the blood from his wounds and bruises on his body to stick out more.
