Full shots can also be used when two or more characters are in the frame, or when the background adds a little more context to either the storyline or the character itself. A medium full shot singles out the character that the audience should focus on. Cowboy shots are mainly used for the "hero effect" as it is a strong powerful shot. Medium shot is rather common in film, as this is how us as humans interact with, and talk with each other on the day to day basis. Close up shot, focuses on the subjects head, which can show a lot of facial expression, allowing the audience to know the characters emotion and thoughts on certain things.
