CCR Preliminary Task 1 by Hope Fowler

Question 3

1

Pre production :What did I enjoy?

I enjoyed making the moodboard, in which I could visually express what we were envisoning.

I also enjoyed doing the treatment, as it was easier this time round, with the fact that I could explore and write about the bigger meaning behind our film idea.

2

What I found hard:

Completing all my allocated tasks in a short matter of time before we filmed.

Communicating and finalising the idea, as one of our group members was in the process of moving, meaning we had to find time to call and consolidate ideas.

3

What I found challanging:

It was hard finding enough talent that was available and keen to act, as not only did us group members have different comitments and engagments but so did all the other cast and crew, meaning we had to juggle and find a time that suits everyone.

We managed to film our first attempt, but realised we were missing a lot of detail, meaning we needed to re film.

4

What went well:

Our planning for the second attempt at filming went a lot more smoother, and we managed to plan in detail to ensure that we were more organised.

Splitting up work between all of us group members meant that we could focus and put detail into our allocated areas,

1

Production: what did I enjoy

I enjoyed filming the second time around, as we were a lot more organised and knew exactly what we were filming shot by shot.

It was also a very chill and enjoyable environment to film in, despite us not being familiar with each other, there was a great friendly and laughable vibe that was created, making filming very smooth and enjoyable.

2

What I found hard:

It was hard getting the lighting right, as we wanted it to be a bit dark, but yet wanted it to look good on camera.

At the end of the filming night, due to us all being tired, we didn't manage to get enough shots of the antagonist by himself, making the next stage of production more difficult.

3

What I found challanging:

It was challanging not having our creative and artist group members present, meaning that the rest of us had to improvise and make do with what we had. Despite the artistic side of things still looking good, it wasn't to the full potential that it could have been.

It was also difficult to know how many shots or angles of certain shots we should film, as we did not know what they were going to look like editing wise.

4

What went well:

This time round, we were much more organised in terms of the props, costumes, shot lists ect.

We even managed to bring drinks and food to make the set up more homely, while also creating a natural environment where our cast could actually drink and eat the food.

1

Post production :What did I enjoy?

I enjoyed looking at the footage that we got, as well as seeing everything piece together.

It was also an encouragement seeing the major improvement from our first attempt in filming.

2

What I found hard:

I found it hard picking the correct song for the opening of the film, as I wanted it to reflect the vibes that was being portrayed, but also holding some meaning to it that relates to the film.

Editing as a whole was a lot smoother as I have had previous experiance.

3

What I found challanging:

It was a challange editing the transitions between the flashbacks as we didn't get enough shots of the angles ect.

It was was difficult to find sound effects and eerie music that had a sinister note to it. It was also difficult finding the sound effects that I had envisioned in my head for certain shots and parts of the film, meaning that it didn't quiet live up to the expectation that I had.

4

What went well:

At the end, I was able to add in music and sound effects that created suspense and that had a eerie feel to it.

There were also plenty of tutorials available online for me to learn and navigate around the software.

Overall, I was pretty happy with the end result.
